A small business owner's list of what he does with AI daily: sales, marketing, admin, documents, analysis, revenue growth, financial coaching, and app creation

What AI Can Actually Do for Your Small Business Now

If AI still feels like noise to you, you are not behind. You just have not seen it doing real work yet.

Why this matters for your business

Most owners I talk to have a mental picture of AI that is about a year out of date. They think it writes captions or makes a weird image, so they poke at a chatbot for five minutes, get an okay paragraph, and quietly decide it is overhyped. That gap between what people think AI does and what it actually does now is enormous, and it is quietly costing you the exact hours you keep saying you do not have.

How tomorrow gets better

By the end of this page you will have a plain-English menu of what AI can genuinely run in a small business today, and a way to pick the one task worth handing it first. Not "learn all of AI." Just one task off your plate, running for real, so next week has one less thing in it that only you can do.

I saw a business owner post his own list recently, the everyday things he now hands to AI, and it stopped me. Not because any single item was flashy, but because the whole list quietly answers the question I get more than any other: okay, but what would I actually use it for?

Read this first

If you still think of AI as the chat assistant in ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini, this page is here to show you the actual possibilities, the ones that save you time and make you more money. No download, no tool to sign up for today. Just a simple list.

Here is what AI can actually do now

Read this as a menu, not a checklist. Every line is something a small business is already handing to AI today. Not "helps you write an email." Actually runs the follow-up, drafts the quote, reads the messy folder, and hands you the answer.

Area of your businessWhat AI can genuinely run today
SalesCRM enrichment, call prep, ICP research, data analysis, insights, and inbox follow-ups so leads stop going cold in your inbox.
MarketingLead magnets, funnels, content, ads, and go-to-market strategy, drafted in your voice instead of from a blank page.
AdminInbox triage, invoice processing, and client emails, the recurring admin that quietly eats a whole day of your week.
DocumentsPresentations in any format, client quotes, and contracts, built from a short description instead of a template you fight with.
AnalysisHand it the files you dread, or point it at a messy folder of screenshots, and it turns them into insights in about 15 minutes.
Revenue growthAnalyze competitors, spot gaps and opportunities, and prove out and shape new offers before you commit to them.
Financial coachMonthly financial analysis and plain-English insights, so you actually understand your numbers instead of avoiding them.
App creationBuild websites, quizzes, funnels, and dashboards, the things you always meant to make and never had a spare weekend for.

The question was never "am I using AI yet." Almost everyone has. The question is what would change in your week if one of these actually ran in your business.

Now do the fun part

Go back up that list and stop on the one line that made you go, wait, it can do that? That reaction is the whole point. That flicker of "oh, this could be for me" is the thing most people never get to feel, because they judged AI on a five-minute chatbot session and moved on.

You do not need to be technical. You do not need to know where to start. You just need to see one of those lines working once, with your own business, with your own eyes. Then it clicks, and it does not un-click.

Where to actually start

Do not try to automate your whole business. That is the move that overwhelms everyone and quietly ends with nothing changing. Instead, pick the one task that eats the most of your week, and start there.

  1. Write down everything in your week that eats time and makes you sigh: the invoice thing, the follow-ups you never get to, the report you dread, the offer you have wanted to launch for a year.
  2. Circle the ones that repeat, need little judgement, and sit outside your zone of genius. Those are your AI candidates.
  3. Pick the single one that eats the most of your week. That is your starting point, not your whole business.
  4. Hand that one task to AI and watch it run end to end. Seeing it work once is what makes everything else on the menu feel possible.
The honest part

AI does not decide what matters in your business. You do. What it gives back is the hours and the clear head to make those decisions, instead of drowning in the admin that never should have been yours to carry.

Come see it live

Every Tuesday from 12 to 1pm ET I run free AI Office Hours. It is open, it is live, and you can bring the actual thing eating your week. I will be honest with you, and I say this on camera too: most people have no idea how far AI has actually come. I get to watch that penny drop live every single week. Someone shows up sure that AI is "just a chatbot," and by the end they are watching it do something they would have paid a person for.

Bring your business. Bring the task you dread. I will show you, live, what is actually possible now. No pitch, no pressure.

Come to my AI Office Hours next Tuesday, 12 to 1pm ET

There are no "wrong" questions. Bring whatever is eating your week and we work through it together, live. Free, no pitch.
